Ellen is an SEL Coach and advocate for designing meaningful learning experiences. She started her career in education as an elementary school teacher, MLL interventionist, and K-12 substitute teacher. During her time in these roles, she observed a significant need for the learning and development of Social Emotional Learning. Eager to develop her own understanding of teaching with a social-emotional lens, Ellen pursued a master’s degree in Learning Sciences, which explored the intersection of sociology, psychology, and the design of learning environments. There, she found her passion for teaching the importance of Social Emotional Learning to adults and students in K-12 schools. As the Director of Social Emotional Learning at an education non-profit and an SEL Instructional Specialist at Denver Public Schools, she was able to design and implement programming in both rural and urban settings across the country. She currently works at a learning design company focused on changing the future of how people learn. Ellen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Communications from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master of Arts in Learning Sciences from Northwestern University. Outside of work, Ellen loves to travel, play soccer, and capture cool moments on her film camera.
