Viola is a steward of justice who cares about the world her children will live in. As a Waldorf “lifer,” Tufts University alumna, and recent Harvard graduate, Viola’s dedication to equity and inclusion has fueled her engagement for nearly a decade. She is proud of her work co-chairing the Black Student Union and spearheading an anti-bias initiative at her alma mater, San Francisco Waldorf School. She continued to disrupt deficit thinking models in educational institutions through her Capstone at Tufts and relentlessly advocated for her students as a middle school English teacher in Boston Charter Schools while studying at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Viola loves to connect with people. She relishes the opportunity to have deep conversations about the world and build connections across barriers. She listens not just to hear but to understand—for more than what people say but also for what’s unsaid. Years of teaching have given her a keen sense of interpreting what people share without speaking. This practice yields insights that drive transformational and innovative solutions, both within and beyond the classroom. As a former teacher, she is passionate about building exceptional learning experiences for diverse stakeholders.
Throughout her career, Viola has adamantly advocated for the needs of underrepresented groups by intentionally listening and mobilizing her learning to advance the needs of marginalized communities. She prides herself on being a lifelong learner, which she attributes to the love and dedication of her family, teachers, and community, who have propelled her on this journey. Viola fills her cup by taking long walks with her dog, hosting dinner parties, and traveling the world.
